24 Hours in Savannah, Georgia

If you yearn for Southern food, charm, and hospitality, Savannah, Georgia is the ultimate location for a trip. Though I was only able to spend 24 hours in this beautiful, historic city, I made some worthwhile discoveries and have recommendations. Stay tuned for when I make my way back there and leave no stone unturned!

Where to Stay

  • We stayed at the beautiful Embassy Suites in Historic Savannah, right by the Savannah College of Art and Design. The beautiful building and spacious rooms were paired with nice touches, including an elaborate breakfast spread as well as a complimentary evening reception with cocktails and appetizers. The location is great, and the concierge was so helpful. Would highly suggest staying here, and I would love to return.

Where to Eat

  • Cafe on City Market was an excellent choice for dinner, the outdoor patio was right on the strip so we could hear the band and enjoy the heat. They had a variety of local brewed beers as well as delicious Southern food. My choice? The Creole Shrimp and Grits with Collard Greens. Words can’t even describe how delicious the spicy sauce was, or the collards. Hands down the best greens I’ve had!

  • Savannah Candy Factory introduced me to one of the most delectable treats, a true Southern Praline. Wow, what caramel, nutty goodness that was. I’ve never had an authentic praline, and I have been missing out. Check the store out because there’s something for everyone, like divinities and gophers!IMG_5611

Where to Go

  • City Market- This fun street had lively restaurants as well as some notable shops and food destinations. Check out the Prohibition Museum as well as the food places mentioned above!

  • Broughton Street- If you like shopping, this is the place for you! While there’s larger stores like H&M and Free People, there’s a variety of smaller shops to visit. While I went in many, I purchased from Fab-rik and Dress Up, both stores with reasonable prices and very trendy, chic pieces.
  • River Street- The river side and street side are both noteworthy for a stroll. There are old buildings and bridges, charming sets of stairs, and an expansive river to see. It is what I had envisioned for this town, and made for great photo opportunities!IMG_5615
