A few weeks ago, I was lucky to take a day trip to Baltimore, Maryland! It had been 5 years since I visited the city, and after being in State College for a few weeks, I was craving some city life.
We went to the Inner Harbor Area for the day, and it was the perfect day to walk around (good cloud cover, great temp). We ended up parking in the Little Italy Garage, and it only cost $5 rather than the $25+ a few blocks closer.
We spent most of the time walking around the Inner Harbor. There’s a lot of museums you can visit, like the Aquarium and Ripley’s, and there are also a bunch of places to eat. There are a few shops along the front and in the Gallery mall across the street, but the shopping is definitely not the reason to go to the Harbor. We also grabbed coffee at Corner Bakery.
We then went to the East Harbor neighborhood, which is much more upscale and has more to do. There’s several street of shops, like Anthropologie, Free People, MAC, Lush, and more! It’s also just a lovely place to walk around and soak up the architecture and cobblestone streets.
We felt a bit bored and we love going to breweries, so we went to a gorgeous bayside spot, Gordon Biersch Brewery, for some German brews and views! We sat on the patio and watch the boats on the bay while drinking beer, I would highly recommend. I got a 6 beer flight, that was only $5! What a deal, and all were really good!
The highlight of the trip was our dinner in Little Italy! We at at Germano’s Piattini, and it was such a delicious meal and so fairly priced. I had the goat cheese and beet ravioli, which I kid you not, I had dreams about afterwards! My boyfriend got the homemade meat sauce. We also split this delectable stuffed pepper. After dinner, we walked to Vaccaro’s Bakery and enjoyed cannoli and cookies! Yum yum yum!
The standard of ingredients and cuisine in Little Italy is superb, Baltimore is worth the trip just for that.
