Day or Night Makeup: Kosas Tinted Face Oil

I love to wear makeup, but I am also a skincare junkie. That’s why I try to use foundations that also have skincare properties in them. I don’t like to wear heavy products when I go to school and work, so tinted moisturizers and bb creams have been my best friend these past few years, especially with a mask.

I’ve been eyeing the innovative Kosas Tinted Face Oil for a few years, but never was sure if it would be for me. As I’ve gotten a bit older, my skin has been much dryer, so it felt like time to give it a go. I also have really been looking for quick, mindless makeup so I can make it out the door, or at least focus on my eyes and other things instead.

I had a sample, which was the wrong shade, and then went to Sephora to pick the right color out for myself. I am wearing shade 2, which is porcelain with neutral undertones. I bought it at Sephora, though you can also get it directly on the Kosas website! Their shade selection is pretty good, with some deep colors and a lot of variation in undertones. It was $42 for 1 oz.

The foundation is a tinted dry oil with pigmentation to cover imperfections, but also skincare benefits. According to their site…

Radiance-boosting botanicals absorb, allowing skin-perfecting pigment to even and illuminate complexions. A feather-weight, medium coverage foundation and deeply hydrating skin elixir.

After an aggressive shake to blend everything together, the product goes on great! It easily blends in to the skin and almost melts in. It’s not a layer, just your skin. The oil is easily absorbed and doesn’t leave any greasy feeling. You can use either a tiny bit to just add a bit of coverage, or more for a heavier, more finished look. I don’t find this to drag or pull on any dry patchers, and it doesn’t highlight flakiness.

When I am in a super rush, I just use my fingers and it really helps to blend the product in. I’ve also used a flat topped, thick brush that blends it in flawlessly. Sometimes, there’s a few streaks that need a finger to blend out after the brush. A sponge does an okay job of applying it, but I find it absorbs a lot of product.

It definitely doesn’t need to be topped with powder, but I do sometimes if I want to reinforce the staying powder and go for a matte, finished look . Without powder, it is luminous. Sometimes, depending on the mascara, I find my eye makeup to smudge with this foundation, but it doesn’t happen all the time. All other products go on top beautifully.

The staying power is great, and it lasts all day through work, class, and even workouts! Once it is on, the pigment really stays put, while your skin is nourished underneath thanks to all the great skincare ingredients.

It looks beautiful on, nourished and glowing with the right bit of coverage! I love putting this on as my base during the week for that lighter, office appropriate makeup, but I even used it for a New Year’s Eve look!

Have you tried this product? What do you think? I highly suggest giving it a go if you want natural, clean, and comfortable makeup that nourishes your skin and gives you a great look.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I purchased this myself.
