Traveling locally is a great way to get out, support the local economy, and still be covid safe. I have been making a lot of day trips around Pennsylvania, and really love to see some smaller towns that have been under my radar. Most recently, I went to Williamsport, PA. Ever hear of it?
Williamsport is a small town in between State College and Scranton. In Northern Pennsylvania, it is one of the last bigger towns you’ll pas through while heading north. The town is smaller, but not tiny, and has a lot of history and culture, especially as it is nestled along the river, in between several mountains. With a rich history and diverse population, it was a great spot to visit.
New Trail Brewing
New Trail was the whole goal of our visit! We love beer, and New Trail has some of the best brews we’ve had yet. Their beers are hazy, creamy, flavorful, and strong. There’s nothing not to love. We decided to spend the sunny afternoon sitting on their patio and drinking some beer. I’d definitely suggest checking it out for a relaxed and fun afternoon.
Little League Stadium
If you like baseball, or even if you don’t, you should stop by the Little League Stadium. Every year, the Little League World Series is played here, which is pretty cool and historic. Whether it’s a quick drive by, or you stop in the museum, it’s worth the trip if you’re there.
Lumbar Barron Mansions
On Fourth Street, there’s a series of stunning mansions that used to be owned by Lumbar Barrons. It is a flash back to the past, showing stunning architecture and landscape design. It was fun to drive down, but in nicer weather, I’d definitely enjoy walking it.
Bullfrog Brewery
Bullfrog Brewery is a really cool restaurant that we went to for dinner and more beer. With a fun vibe (right next to the extensively mural-ed transportation museum), the restaurant is really hip and cool. The menu is extensive, full of hearty and delicious looking foods. I got the vegetarian chili mac n cheese (DANG), and my boyfriend got a burger.
We were particularly interested in their wildcraft brews, and both got a flight so we could try a bunch of them. The beers were very unique and special, and it was the perfect place to hang out.
Have you made any fun, day trips in your local area? Or, have you even visited Williamsport, PA? Let me know where I should go next in the comments below!
