Wellness and self-care are integral parts of my routine always, but especially this year. 2020 has been a year where I neglected to take care of myself: 2021 will be different.
I used to love nail painting, but lately I’ve just been shredding my nails or not taking the time. I knew this creative expression of beauty was something I needed to bring back into my routine.
Meet sundays. This is a nail care wellness brand founded on the principle of self-care. The brand focuses on non-toxic yet salon quality products, that feed your mind, body, and soul. Each individual approach to wellness is embodied by sundays, with no frills attached. Through self-care, like the sundays nail care experience and community, long term wellness goals can be achieved (rather than just a quick check off your list). As a self-care mentor in college, this feeds in exactly to my approach about wellness (one I unfortunately fell off of). Let’s give ourselves grace and respect as we go through this wellness journey.
sundays nail polish prides itself on being vegan, cruelty-free, and 10-free. The colors are intense and high shine with long lasting power, yet are eco-friendly, animal-friendly, and human friendly! What more could you want. They also took time to design a bottle that allows for a flawless application, with a rubberized, grip lid.
I was looking for a beautiful, grey polish (it’s one of my favorite, unexpected neutral nail colors), and no.32 was just the color I wanted. This creamy, dark olive grey has a stormy aura while still being versatile throughout any season. I love a dark nail that looks chic, not grungy.
As soon as I painted this polish on, I loved it. The polish was easy to apply (thanks to that bottle), creamy, and pigmented. I probably didn’t need a second coat, but did so just so that I had absolute full coverage. I didn’t even use base or top coat, just to test out the polish on its own. This didn’t disappoint! The shine was great, and I only have a bit of wear after 3 days.
Overall, I was really impressed by this polish, and would love to try some of their brighter colors, as well as sheerer colors. I do find dark grey tones don’t always go on smoothly, so this really impressed me! The line also has a variety of nail care and meditation products that I think would be a beneficial addition to my self care journey.
I would highly recommend sundays to anyone looking for an experiential and high quality nail experience you can feel good about. It’s been a joy for me to learn about the brand, both through use and by reading their mission.
