Mainline Philadelphia, a glorious place. Tucked away in the suburbs outside of the city (right off the Septa Paoli/Thorndale line), this wealthier area is home to boutiques, nature, food, and loads of family friendly places to go.
Going to school at Bryn Mawr for four years, I have been wonderfully exposed to this environment, and my suggestions post could go on FOREVER! I am going to try and keep it to a reasonable amount, so that you can actually do some of the things. Comment for more suggestions though if you need, because I am full of them.
Where to Eat
- Bam Bam Kitchen– This is my favorite Korean restaurnt, and I am even going here after graduation! Order the stone bowl bibimbap, it comes out hot and sizzling and you won’t be dissapointed.
- El Limon– Classic, cheap Mexican food that is flavorful. You also get free margaritas, so you can go on a date, with drinks, for around $20!
- Tiffin– Tiffin’s Paneer Tikka Masala has gotten me through so many final’s weeks, I have to suggest it.
- Terrain– See my blog post to learn more!
- Minella’s Diner– This is the closest thing I have found to an old fashioned diner on the mainline, and it is definitely a local favorite. The food is delicious, it’s clean, and it is a great breakfast spot on the weekends!
Where to Shop
- Bryn Mawr Hospital Thrift Shop- I have found some great vintage gems for affordable prices here.
- Boujee– See my linked post!
- Rachelle Consignment– I love this store for really high end pieces at a fraction of he cost. They shop the closets of celebrities, and there’s always something stunning.
- Blue Mercery- Tis beauty store is all over the mainline, and I find it to be classy, clean, and to carry gorgeous products.
- Radnor TJ Maxx- This is the most designer-heavy TJ MAxx I have ever been to! Think Fendi, Dior, Louboutin, all at insane discounts!
- Aux Petits Delices– Do you love baked goods? Do you watch the Spring Baking Championship on Food Network? The owner of this bakery is currently on the show, with good reason! Such delightful french pastries.
Where To Drink
- Tired Hands Brewery– I’m only suggesting one brewery (though I have tried a ton) because I personally believe it is the best on the mainline! They have so many unique beers, great prices, and a cool shop. Not to mention, awesome branding. I love the saison, the blackberry IPA, and the rice beer (though their list is constantly rotating).
Where to Go
- Mom’s Organic Market– My favorite grocery store, ever. Go to shop, be educated, and eat delightful fresh food. I would live in this store if I could!
- Suburban Square– Go here for shopping, and the outdoor experience. This is a beautiful, open air mall that has events, services, and stores (as well as some yummy restaurants)
- Chanticleer Gardens– I have a whole post on this magical estate, and it is one of my favorite gardens of all time.
- Cricket and Rittenhouse Avenue (Ardmore)- These two streets in Ardmore are home to beautiful bakeries, shops, and businesses. Go down for a magical world of rare finds and fun.
Where to Stay
- The Wayne Hotel-This is my favorite mainline hotel. It has luxurious rooms, great service, and a delicious breakfast that cannot be beaten! My parents have stayed here many times, and it is their number one.
All opinions and suggestions are my own! I was not compensated for this post
