A Fall Weekend in State College, PA

Fall in a small town can be a beautiful time. Especially a town with local farms, food joints, and lots of natural ways to get outside. I had the most fantastic fall weekend in State College, PA and wanted to share what i did with you! If you can get by any of these places, I highly suggest it.

Town and Breakfast

We started our day with some breakfast downtown then walked around and went into some of the small shops. I highly suggest walking around downtown State College for cute shops, great food, and charm.

Harner Farm

This is my hands down favorite farm in State College! It is so fun, but it is also SO festive. They go over the top with their Halloween decorations, including many different scenes and a mini haunted house. They also have a spooky, tricky corn maze that is full of elaborate decorated scenes. We did the maze, went apple picking (which is affordable and fun), and got some of their beautiful pumpkins!

814 Cider Works

814 Ciderworks is a fun cidery outside of State College that has a fantastic outdoor set up. There’s fire pits, music, and food trucks. Their cider is delicious, and we had such a great time sitting for a few hours by the fire and sipping on some cider. Highly recommend spending the afternoon here!

Apple Pie Baking

We took our hand picked apples and made them into a sour cream apple pie (which is written up here).

Champs Sports Bar

We were looking for somewhere to eat outside, and the Champs sports bar on North Atherton was perfect! They have such an extensive menu, including wild sandwiches, as well as affordable and large sized flights. A fantastic meal!

Delivered Breakfast

We were sleepy, so we ordered Cracker Barrel breakfast, delivered to our door, from Uber Eats, right from the bed! This was the perfect way to start a lazy Sunday.

Penn State Arboretum

After getting dressed, we took the tripod to the arboretum. After walking around and enjoying the fall displays, we took some pictures! I love coming here at all seasons, because there’s always beautiful things to look at, and it makes a great date or photo spot.

I love spending small town weekends exploring in the fall. Especially when it’s safe, outside, and festive! Do you have any small PA towns I should check out?

All thoughts and opinions are my own.
