A Special DIY Couples Christmas Ornament

What is better than a way to commemorate a special time with your significant other or family than an ornament on your tree? I love making ornaments for Christmas, so my husband and I follow a tradition for every new house we live in, we make an ornament to commemorate. We do this by including an imprint of our key and our address!

We started with polymer clay, easily purchased at any craft store and very beginner friendly. After rolling it out, we stamped our key into it! Then, we cut it into whatever shape we’re feeling. So far, we have a circle and a rectangle. Make sure to add a hole to thread ribbon through! We then bake it following the package instructions. Once it is cool, we tie on a ribbon and use an acrylic paint marker or sharpie to write on our address.

Although it seems simple, it makes such a special addition to the tree, and they really are quite stylish! Every time we see these on our Christmas tree, we think about great times in our lives at our current and past houses.

In addition to a special craft to do together, this would be a fantastic gift for family or friends. Anyone who you may have a spare key to, turn it into an ornament! One year, I gifted this to my nana, and she was so surprised and thrilled. I’ve also made one for my parents.

Christmas is meant to be special, and a time for fond memories, family, and new laughs. For us, this means letting our tree shine with our love and the love around us. If you’re looking for something unique to add to your Christmas tree that is special, inexpensive to make, and looks beautiful, this is the perfect craft!
