A Taste of History with Gallow Hills Spirits

If you’re like me, Halloween is every day. Well for me, it’s because I am a biological anthropologist and my day to day is full of skulls. But for others, it’s because of a love for witches, magic, and the unknown!

When I saw a sign on Lehigh Street for Gallow Hills Spirits, I wanted to know why I hadn’t heard of them sooner! A distillery with a magical flare within 5 minutes of my house, I had to go.

After some research, I found out the owner’s ancestor was actually executed during the Salem Witch Trials, so they took their love of alcohol and combined it with this interest to make a museum and themed distillery.

Each alcohol has a themed name, and they have gin, vodka, chai liquor, moonshine, and more. The liquors are strong, and you can tell they’re skilled at this kind of thing.

The tasting room itself is tucked away off the main street, but is spacious, has incredible lighting, and is decorated in probably my dream home decor (I’m weird, I know). Bats, witch hats, and the most incredible hand drawn art for sale I’ve every seen! Spooky, on theme, and so fun.

The drinks were just as awesome. I had an earl grey martini and my boyfriend got this delicious apple drink. they were hand mixed, high quality, and so good. I also want to try a pink peppercorn drink they have, as well as this smokey orange maple concoction. Their drinks are seasonal, and it looks like the creativity is flowing…always.

There was also a band there that night, and we both agreed, the place was so peaceful and made us feel really good. As soon as you can, I would highly suggest stopping by for some tunes, music, a great drink, and maybe taking a bottle home.
