A Weekend on the Delaware Coast

For the past few years, my boyfriend and I have always made an effort to visit Bethany Beach in Delaware for a long weekend. This year, we had an abundance of fun and exploration across the Delaware Coast.

Bethany

We stayed in Ocean View, DE, the bayside town of Bethany Beach. This year, rather than camping, we stayed at a stunning Air BnB which was a Victorian Home with a beautiful, eclectic decorating style and charming features. There were piles of books everywhere, and Jean was a wonderful host, even treating us to delicious muffins!

Bethany Beach is a charming family beach with a small yet thorough boardwalk.

Dewey

Dewey Beach is definitely the beach for nightlife and fun. We ate dinner at Dewey Beer Co, and the rustic environment paired with great food and unique brews is definitely a must visit. I had a chickpea bowl paired with 3 of their different sour beers, my favorite being the Tiramisu Sour. I would highly recommend their burgers as well! I planned on purchasing their Tiramisu the next day, but the cans sold out before I could get there (so plan in advance for their can releases).

Afterwards, we went to North Beach, a bayside nightclub that was giving out free tacos and had a fun beach vibe, as well as an awesome band!

Dewey Beach was less crowded than Bethany, and I found the waves to be less intense, so it was better for swimming.

Rehobeth

The biggest of the three beach towns, Rehobeth is a family friendly, fun boardwalk. We went for dinner at a Mediterranean place called Semra’s, and I had some of the best falafel, ever! We walked around and did some shopping, a few of my favorite places were the Fossil by the Beach store and Leh Soap Company .

One of the most noteworthy places that we visit every year is Kaisy’s Delights.

The Kaisy® starts with a pancake dough with vanilla and rum in it. We incorporate the egg whites at the last minute and we whip them a lot. This is what brings the fluffiness. We then cook it on the griddle in a special frame as we scatter a few raisins on top.

This dessert is delectable and memorable, a must try if you’re in the area!

After playing some skeeball in the arcade, we headed down to the Dogfish Head Brewery and Restaurant. They have a really fun shop, as well as unique beer cocktails and other delicious drinks. We had already eaten, but they had an appealing oyster menu, complete with their own kind of oyster. I would recommend the SeaQuench Ale of the Sonic Archeology.
