Baking Through the Alphabet: Festive Cake Pops

Do you love a good festive treat? I do! I have admired cake pop making for year, but just never felt like I could do them. They seem SO complicated.

Well, I decided to give it a go so I could give out some treats on Valentine’s Day, and I am so glad I did! These pops are easy to make, delicious, and pack a big punch as far as impressions go.

While these look complicated online, you just need to follow a few steps. I used all boxed mixes and pre-made frostings to make the process easier.

First, prepare a cake based on the instructions for the mix. For Valentine’s Day, I used a red cake. Let this cool!

Once cooled, use a fork and crumble up into small pieces in a bowl. Then mix in a couple of spoonfuls of frosting (I used cream cheese). Mix together until the cake mixture sticks together and you can form it into balls. Then comes the fun and messy part. Ball rolling!

Like you’re making meatballs, roll each ball of cake into a small, round ball. Size is up to you, but I think a small, meatball size is good. Put all of these on a cookie sheet. Dip each stick into a bit of melted chocolate, then insert into the cake ball (if you wanted balls, not pops, skip this step).

Freeze these balls for 20 minutes so they get hard and the sticks stay in the cake. Then melt a bag of candy melts according to package. Dip each stick into the melts, add sprinkles, and put back on the sheet. Let set in the freezer a bit more before eating.

There you have it! The simplest, easy to make festive cake pops perfect for any occasion. Change up your colors and flavors depending on the holiday, and you have a party ready and gift perfect treat for any time.
