Cleveland, Ohio Travel Guide

Cleveland, Ohio, a beautiful lakeside city known for gorgeous architecture, breweries, and Michael Simon. I had visited the city 7 years ago, and was able to go back for my Anthropology Conference at the end of March. I was greeted to a new city, one that was thriving with life, and one that made my 4 days memorable.

Most of my time was in the Huntington Convention Center because of the event, but when I slipped out, there was a world to see.

Where to Stay

Tremont Air BnB

This gorgeous Air BnB was a 2 story apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was beautiful, clean, and bright. Eugeny was an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed to stay comfortable. My favorite detail was the loft bathroom, with the slide open barn door. It took under 10 minutes to get to downtown by Uber, and the cost was $7-$10. The neighborhood was chic and happening as well. Added plus? Right next door to the Christmas Story House (more on that later). The price was fair, which was great because the downtown hotels cost about quadruple the price per night.

Where To Eat/Drink

Butcher and Brewer

If you’re looking for great beer and a family style meal, this is the perfect spot. On East 4th Street, this cool brewery has awesome tables and a menu of smaller plates that are meant for sharing. I had the Pierogi Pizza, which was an indulgent joy, and tried a friend’s fried tofu (also awesome). The space is loud and cozy, but I didn’t mind. I had three of their beers. My favorite was the IPA that was brewed for Women’s Day! Their sour was a bit bland (in my mind), and the Lucy Beer (an anthropology staple) was pretty bitter, but fun for the novelty.

ReBol

This was a cool, tin box in the middle of a park, and I was digging it. Everything here was so healthy, and although I don’t follow the keto diet, it was nice to try some of the keto items. The food was fresh, generous, and affordable. Great lunch or dinner spot, and had great coffee!

Bloom Cafe

We stopped at this spot for lunch, and I had the best colorful bagel! It was a bit expensive, but great baked goods and homemade soups.

To See

Lake Erie

Go by the lake to see the beautiful scenery! The water is beautiful and pure, and this is definitely one f the more accessible spots to see Lake Erie.

A Christmas Story House

This is the best one that I have saved for last! Our AirBnB was 3 doors down from this house, and I was living out every holiday dream. The house is an icon, and it was SO COOL to see it in person. They also have a museum, and a really awesome gift shop where you can get all the leg lamp goods you desire. Even if you’re downtown, I’d suggest taking the uber there!
