You know I love to cook out of cookbooks, and I have another cook book review for you today! This one is special, because I am bringing you New England comfort food full of love and personality.
The Inns of Rockport Cookbook is a special item I bought during my trip to Rockport, MA, a coastal beach town in Massachusetts. Pulled together by the local Innkeeper’s Association, they brought together recipes from the 20+ Inns and Bed & Breakfasts in the town. New England B&Bs are something special, and all of the owners put a bit of love and heart into everything they do.
The types of food you’d find in this book are typical for New England Inns. This includes lots of cozy breakfasts of the sweet and savory variety, desserts, and comfortable foods like chowder, lobster, and crab cakes. Also, the book tells stories about several of the Inns, and the local events and places that make the small town of Rockport so charming.
I’ve made a variety of recipes from this book, both savory and sweet. For dinners, I’ve made a taco casserole (super quick and yummy week night dinner) and a very gourmet crab cake with a shallot white wine tarragon sauce. DANG that was a good sauce. I also made pumpkin bread, lemon bread, and apple bread! Bring on the cake like breads! All 3 were hits with me and my loved ones.
Next, I plan on making the local, famous Anadama bread, as well as some New England Baked Beans and classic clam chowder. I cannot wait, since nothing has failed yet!
So, does this cook book make you feel like you need some New England comfort? Who could blame you!
All thoughts and opinions are my own.
