When I was a freshman, I used to wear a full face of makeup daily to class. I was impressive. Then life bogged me down, and makeup became a scarcity by junior year of college and my fall senior semester. One of my new years resolutions was to take more time to myself, and this meant doing something I loved, like makeup! I don’t wear makeup daily to class, but I have started to wear it probably 3/5 days of the week.
Since I do pageants, I got into the mindset that there was no point doing makeup if it wasn’t full glam. That’s nonsense! Natural makeup can look great, glowy, and give you that extra confidence you need. Your features can be accented, and it is more practical for meetings, classes, and work. I’ve grown to relove the natural look for the week, and I wanted to share with you my 5-minute look I have been doing that looks cohesive, finished, and awesome!
Steps:
- I start with my face, which includes using a good primer (I’ve been playing around, but for this look, used the Smashbox Primerizer) and some lip balm to prep those lips (AOA Lip Oil). I conceal where is needed (redness and my eye bags), with my all time favorite, the Nars Creamy Concealer. Then, I top it off with a powder! Sometimes, it’s translucent, but lately I have been trying the bare minerals powder foundation and it gives a great look that has coverage, pigment, and glow.
- To accent the face, I put on a brow gel, and then some highlight. Both of these have been from AOA. This gives that cohesive and glowing look without being too done.
- For my eyes, I put down a cream eyeshadow stick base (Laura Mercier) in a shimmery pink color, then accented with taupe shadow on the outer corner and crease. Taupe is good because it adds depth yet isn’t hard to work with like some dark shadows. The one I used was from Wet n Wild, which makes incredible shadows!
- Top it off with some mascara and nude liner in the inner rim…this look it all about being awake and bright. Finally, I added some shimmering Mac Lipglass to look pulled together but not too bright.
