Kelley of Candelles

Meet the most inspirational, entrepreneurial women across the beauty, fashion, and lifestyle industries.

“To me, being a boss means having confidence and feeling empowered in any aspect. If you’re setting big goals for yourself and doing your best to crush them, regardless of if you have a business or not, your are the ladyboss of your life!”

Kelley from Candelles has done just that, crushing her goals and making incredible smelling candles. This scent master is a major business owner inspiration.

Kelley always wanted to be an entrepreneur, and after dabbling in nail polish, decided to start making candles to raise money for her grandmother, who was diagnosed with cancer. After her passing, she turned her grief into light and founded Candelles in November 2013.

Candelles makes hand poured candles that are small batch, eco-friendly, and high quality. The products are mainly sold online, but are also carried at 200+ independent shops and boutiques throughout the United States.

Her favorite scent is the Blue Spruce candle, which you can find in the holiday collection! Kelley focuses on finding unique scents for the seasons, and does a great job. The first scentI had purchased was “That’s My Jam”.

Candelles is a love business, with passion and heart behind it. “My favorite part of running Candelles is definitely when I get a chance to take a step back and catch a glimpse of our warehouse in its natural motion. Everyone is working in their designated departments, everything is running smoothly, and somehow, my silly little idea to sell a candle or two turned into this well oiled machine. It’s fascinating!”

Running your own business can be challenging, but Kelley tries to keep a normal work schedule and makes sure to give herself time to unplug. Pinterest keeps her inspired, as well as other small businesses and just that true passion she has for what she does. When it comes to branding and marketing, her advice is authenticity.

Her final advice for those wanting to start their own business?

“Dig in deep and if it truly means everything, never give up. There will definitely be days you feel like a failure or make a mistake that you feel is detrimental to your success. But if your business was always smooth sailing, nothing would be fun about it! So keep at it, don’t expect results immediately, and give it all you got.”

All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this interview, I just really like the brand!
