Learning Calligraphy

I’ve been doing such a fun project since May that I finally feel ready to share; I’ve been learning calligraphy! I did this through an awesome book called Calligraphy Made Easy, that’s only $10 from Target.

Inside this book, there’s warmups, lessons for learning upper and lower case letters, and writing words. There’s also lessons on spacing and flourishes, all the things you need to develop your own style! There’s plenty of space for practicing, plus extra lined and blank pages. One other thing I loved were the gorgeous projects in the back! They were colorful and fun, and they taught a lot of practical project skills.

I started by working my way through the warmups daily, then through each section 2-3 times. Before I started the projects, I then went through the whole book again. I still keep up with that like every 2 months or so. In addition, I do a project a day! This could be my own, or one from the book! Gotta stay fresh!

I find it so creative, but also relaxing. It’s not hard to learn at all, and you feel so accomplished. I’ve made cards, gifts, and decorations with this skill, and everyone loves to see it! It’s something that only a few people know how to do, yet is so easy to learn.

I would completely suggest this book. In addition to the Tombow Brush pens, I’d suggest some of the colorful Tombow pens. Brush pens are awesome, and you can really experiment to get different looks. Let me know if you’ve done this, and show me your creations!
