Octoberfest was such a fun month for beer and food, and now that it is over, I don’t ant to stop with the krauts, sausages, and pretzels! I had a head of red cabbage from my misfit box and I was so excited to cook it up into traditional red cabbage and apples.
I mixed together a few different recipes online to make the perfect stewed cabbage, and this recipe is too good not to share (and super simple).
Let me know if you try it or have any suggestions to make it even better!
Ingredients:
1 head of red cabbage
½ cup of apple cider vinegar
1 cup of pumpkin beer (could use apple juice, water, or wine)
1 chopped apple
1 half chopped onion
Salt
Pepper
Olive Oil
Steps:
- chop up the apple and onion, as well as the cabbage.
- On medium heat, cook the onion and apple with olive oil until brown.
- Add in the cabbage, seasonings, and liquid.
- Put on a lid and let simmer on medium for 45-50 minutes!
That’s it, you’re done! Serve with rice, pasta, sausage, you name it!
