If you’re a stationary lover like me, you know the value of a beautiful, custom wedding invitation or stationary suite. You also know the cost! To have bespoke invitations, but save money, I DIY’d each element of the suite so that they feel luxurious, but the price tag was low.
For the printed stationary, we chose Basic Invite. We loved using them for our Save the Date cards, and I liked that they had beautiful and customizable designs that were anything but basic! They also had really reasonable pricing for luxe paper options, and the real selling point for me was the free envelope addressing! What more could I ask for?
I went for a card design that included both our ceremony and reception details (since they are 2 different places), and wanted it to have the timeless, expensive feel (with the fonts), but wanted it to be a bit more fun than black and white, so I picked a sandy pink with grey. The finishing touch came from a gold embossed detail and a luxe velvet finish paper.
The Details: Vellum Jackets
I dreamed of having a romantic vellum jacket around our cards to elevate them, and rather than purchase them pre-done, I made them myself! With a pack of inkjet printer safe vellum (linked here) and a picture I downloaded from Adobe Images, I printed each jacket. We then cut them with the paper cutter to size, wrapped them around the cards, and sealed them with this gold, wax-seal style sticker. I love wax seals, but I don’t love the postage increase that comes with them! This gave me the look, while saving money on mailing. They also were infinitely easier to do!
The Details: Embossed Envelopes
Finally, to add an extra special, custom touch to the invitation, I decided to emboss our envelopes with our initials. I ordered our embosser on Zazzle, and just used on of their existing templates and input our initials. Watch a demo of it here! It shipped so quick, came pre-assembled, and is so easy to use and high quality. I intend to use this throughout other wedding weekend elements as well.
I have some live footage of the way these invitation suites turned out here & here, so go ahead and take a look at these beauties! What do you think? Are you going to take any of these details and try them yourself? Basic Invite is also currently running a 15% off sale with the code 15FF51!
All thoughts and opinions are my own. We purchased everything ourselves.
