Our Wedding Venue: Americus Hotel

When planning our wedding, finding the perfect venue was my biggest priority. I wanted somewhere important, beautiful, and still filled with spirit. Being unique was a key, but I also needed it to be budget friendly and convenient. Places that required tons of work on my end weren’t for me, and I also needed somewhere with personality. Luckily for me, we landed on the Americus Hotel in Allentown, PA.

The Americus Hotel is a fully restored, national historic ballroom located in downtown Allentown. Originally opened in 1927, the ballroom was a grand display with golden sconcses, crystal chandeliers, and stunning floor to ceiling windows. Think vintage, gilded age luxury. The spot is like no other. Above are state of the art modern guest rooms, and the hotel really is a ritzy, great gatsby moment.

To me, I really wanted history to be incorporated into our wedding. Nothing too new or modern, and something that really spoke to the grandeur of the past. I want a wedding that feels like an event, and a great venue was part of that. Also, I wanted our wedding to be conveniently located to hotels and our church ceremony site, and reduce any driving that would be needed. Downtown Allentown is great for that!

Being in Allentown was important for both of us, especially since we met here, started our relationship here, and grew up here. Our whole family is in Allentown, as are many of our friends, so marrying in our hometown felt right. I also have a lot of pride for the Americus Hotel and downtown Allentown revitalization.

Here’s a funny story, I contacted over 57 venues, and the Americus Hotel was actually the first. When you know, you know, am I right?

What do you think? Have you heard of this amazing destination and is it somewhere you’d pick?

All thoughts and opinions are my own.
