Sunset Flower Field Tour at Willow Haven Farm

Is there anything dreamier than a field of flowers? I think not. I’ve been following Willow Haven Flowers for over a year, and was so bummed to miss her Sunset Flower Tour while I was traveling. Fortunately, the event was offered again this year, and I jumped for joy that I was able to go!

My boyfriend and I decided to make a date night of it. We got some takeout and had a picnic, then went to the farm up in new Tripoli, PA. It was a sunset tour from 6-8:30, and cost $20 per person. It included a tour of the flower fields, some information about the organic flower farming, and the option to pick your own flowers and fill a mason jar! There were also great photo opportunities.

Owner Annika has lived on her family’s organic vegetable farm her whole life and started growing flowers to pay for college! A bit more from their site…

Whether I’m in the field weeding and picking, or baking bread and pies for market I have always helped with the family business. Living on a farm has given me an entrepreneurial spirit and taught me how to work hard. Since I was 12 I’ve also had a little side ‘business’ making pies and cookies to sell at our farm market. Now, I’ve moved on to start growing flowers.

This business is starting because I want to go to college but I need a way to pay for it. My goal is to grow flowers to pay for my education. I have a passion for philosophy, the classics and classical authors. With my profits so far I’ve payed for the spring semester of my freshmen year.

Growing organically with no chemicals is an absolute must for Willow Haven Flowers. We are located on the property of Willow Haven farm, the organic vegetable farm that Annika grew up on. We use organic growing practices to ensure you receive the best quality flowers.

We arrived at the event and were warmly greeted, then we embarked on the tour. She has four rows of beautiful growing flowers, and endless varieties. As we went along the rows, she taught us about the different flowers, how she started them from seed, how to pick the right ones, and how she runs her business. It was so fun and informational, and I loved learning about all the different varieties.

As we went, we picked flowers from each kind to put in our mason jar. With endless colors, textures, and varieties, it was such a fun way to build a whimsical and beautiful bouquet. My boyfriend and I picked colors we liked, and really filled up the jar with as many different kinds as we could. When we finished, we took everything out and arranged them in a way that made more sense.

We then took some pictures along the flower paths, because how could you not. With the glowing, golden hour sunlight, it was magical.

If you’re local, you absolutely have to check this event out! She’s hosting another one on August 8rd, you can buy tickets here. It’s such a great way to be outside and enjoy the beauty and nature of the farm. Perfect for friends, dates, and families!
