I’ve always been interested in pole fitness. For years, I have admired just how challenging of an art form it is. It is no easy task, and takes incredible fitness.
I was so excited to find Abstract Aerial Academy in Allentown, PA on Instagram, and made it a mission to try a class next time I was home from school.
Spring Break was the perfect time for me to try it out, and I took advantage of their new member special! For $15, I was able to try an Intro to Pole Class at the studio, and my future classes will be $25, or a bit less if I purchase packages (my plans).
The studio is in a really cool warehouse, and is spacious, bright, and clean. The class went for an hour, and I was the only one there that day, so I had a lot of special attention. We worked on spins, walking, pole sits, and climbing. I was beat, but made some great progress. I was doing the best at climbing, but I am just terrible at the sits!
I was hurting during class, and could barely move the next few days. What a work out on completely new muscle sets! I was having so much fun, I couldn’t even notice. That’s how a workout should be.
I also love that the studio wasn’t stuffy at all. It was really just welcoming and made me feel comfortable while doing something new that I wasn’t really good at.
I cannot wait to go back and continue to strengthen my skills!
If Intro to Pole isn’t your thing, they also have other classes, like aerial silks! One of my best friends is an aerial acrobatics specialist, and I really want to try this class too so I can see what her life is all about!
Definitely go and check out Abstract Aerial Academy. I know things are closed right now due to Covid-19, so maybe even purchase your classes in advance to support them now and get into shape later! Before you go, keep working on strengthening your core and arms…you’ll need it!
