My trip to Cala d’Or, Mallorca, Spain was one for the books. Full of beautiful memories, this Balearic Island lies in the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by stunning blue water, housing gorgeous coves lined with pine trees. Just a one hour flight from Madrid, everywhere on the island is accessible within an hour.
Cala d’Or is a beautiful resort town in the Southeastern part of the island, home to 5 gorgeous coves and a marina, as well as a fun town. I was there for 8 days, and enjoyed every second of the lifestyle. Here’s my guide on where to stay and what to do, and stay tuned for what to buy in a separate post (trust me, there’s a lot)!
Where To Stay
I stayed at the Barceló Ponent Playa, located right on Cala Ferrera. This hotel was incredible. The staff was friendly and welcoming (and also very helpful when our airport ride fell through). The rooms were clean and bright, and the beds so comfortable!
We had the all inclusive package, which was full of great drinks and endless gourmet food options. Every night, dinner was a different, delicious theme. There was a great variety at every meal, and I always walked away satisfied. One thing I loved about Spain was that they actually gave you a bottle of wine at dinner, and it was a lifestyle I could get behind!
The location of this hotel was also probably one of the best in the city. The beach was right there, and it wasn’t crowded like a lot of the other ones. It was the prettiest beach in Cala d’Or as well!
The hotel had two pools, a cute, hidden indoor pool and a beautiful outdoor pool, great entertainment in their music bar each night, and a pool, sports, and beach bar. What more could you want!
Beaches
I mentioned there were 5 cove beaches in Cala d’Or, and I went to all of them!
Cala Serena
I loved this small cove next to ours. It was serene, tiny, and magical with caves and a short yet stunning stretch of beach.
Cala Ferrera
I spent the most time at this beach, as it was next to the hotel, and it was my favorite! Great cliffs to jump off, gorgeous water, and just the right amount of people.
Cala Gran
This beach was a bit busier, and while it was pretty, it didn’t charm me as much as the other two. There was a great lookout spot if you go climbing around!
Cala Esmerelda
The water here was so clear, but there were a ton of jellyfish, so watch when you’re swimming! Take a walk on the rock pathways on the side to enjoy some further out views.
Cala d’Or
The namesake beach, this one also has a lot of jellyfish, but it was pretty and set a bit further down.
Places in Town
Town was really fun, full of lively restaurants and shops. I’m going to go further into what to buy when you’re here, but I have a great drink joint to share now!
What a cool bar! They only have one drink a day, and they serve it by the person in the coolest containers ever, complete with decor, dry ice, and sparklers! Our drink was very orange in flavor, as well as creamy. We even got leis!
